First Time Attendees
Attending a SAR Congress is very exciting: everything seems new yet steeped in tradition. This is a brief overview to aid any First Time Attendees and give a better understanding of what will occur during the annual Congress.
DELEGATES If you are a delegate, ensure you are listed on your State-level Society’s credential sheet and have paid the registration fee. Without paying the registration fee, you cannot be a delegate.
ORIENTATION Once you get to the hotel and have checked in, head to the SAR registration desk to pick up your information packet. Next, delegates should proceed to the credentials area to be verified as a delegate. After that, familiarize yourself with the basic layout of the meeting rooms, find out in which areas the general session, awards night, banquets, etc. will be held. Maps of the hotel and meeting schedules will be listed in the Congress program found in the packet you received at the SAR registration desk.
There will be a message board with any announcements, updates regarding committee meetings, etc. at the registration desk.
Make plans to attend the “New Attendees Orientation” scheduled for Sunday morning. It is opportunity to hear what is happening during the Congress sessions and also a chance to ask any questions you may still have. Several of the national-level officers usually attend and introduce themselves, along with many of the national SAR staff members.
